CloseBy Network Eldercare System
Digital Home Convergence Designs is offering the CloseBy Network Eldercare System, which allows families to remotely monitor the activities of their elderly or disabled loved ones, enabling them to stay in their own homes longer. This gives families peace of mind knowing their loved one is being cared for, while preserving their loved one's financial assets for a "rainy day."
Built on the Control4 home automation platform, the CloseBy Network Eldercare System uses sensors and software tied to a secure web application to provide real time information as well as email or text message alerts. Families can choose what to monitor, how to receive the information, and who should be sent alerts.
Typical scenarios:
- Grandma normally wakes up at 8AM, but today, by 9AM, she is still in bed. An email alert is sent to the loved one to prompt a call to determine if she is OK.
- Grandpa has diabetes, and because the refrigerator door hasn't been opened for six hours, it is likely he hasn't had a regular meal in a while to properly maintain his sugar levels - an alert is sent to the loved one.
- The system indicates that Grandma left the house in the middle of the day, and may be wandering about. An alert is sent to the CloseBy Network, including the neighbor she trusts. The neighboor can very easily drop by and check up on her.
- Grandpa slipped and fell on the wet bathroom floor, and can't get up. All he has to do is press the "Contact Me" button on to the pendant he is wearing, to immediately alert the loved ones of the situation.
- The children of the elder are travelling and want to make sure that grandpa is OK without him feeling being watched over. All they need to do is log in to the CloseBy Network Web Application, and in an unobtrusive way determine if there is anything unusual going on.
